Live in NYC and looking for somewhere to compost your organic food scraps? Plant Group now offers weekly pickups for your scraps. You give us your "waste" and we work with local farms and community gardens to turn it into nutrient rich soil. For being part of the program you get back a bag of compost for your garden, or you can choose to donate it our network of growers. We take the following: - Fruit and veggies - Coffee grounds, tea filters (remove staples) - Egg shells (rinsed) - Leaves, grass clippings - Bread, cereal - Paper, paper bags (no colored or glossy paper) According to the EPA : "Organic waste in landfills generates, methane, a potent greenhouse gas. By composting wasted food and other organics, methane emissions are significantly reduced." By joining our composting program you help reduce your carbon footprint, while also supporting local agriculture, horticulture, and soil-building efforts in your city. We believe that humans living actively and respectfully with nature is part of the formula for building and maintaining healthy soils in cities. Proceeds from the program ($20/month) help support ongoing composting and urban farming efforts in NYC, as well as pay our crew of compost warriors to move materials through the city! Here's Mama Janay harvesting some kale from the 139th Street Community Garden, one of our composting hubs in Harlem. Sign up for compost pickups and/or drop-offs here . Interested in getting your compost picked up? Would you like to host a composting hub? Reach out to info@plantgroup.co to sign up for the program!
